Key Expertise

Commercial Disputes & Insolvency and Bankruptcy

Aseem has developed strong expertise in insolvency and bankruptcy law through sustained engagement with IBC matters. His work has encompassed resolution applicant due diligence, calculation of employee and workmen dues, and detailed risk and liability analysis of corporate debtors — including assessment of joint venture agreements, development rights, and IP licensing arrangements. He has independently led a team on an insolvency mandate for a multinational corporation. On the disputes and forensic side, he has contributed to SFIO investigations, assisted in framing charges under the Companies Act and IPC, studied stock market manipulation in IPOs and Rights Issues, and prepared deposition and cross-examination questions for ongoing investigations.

Corporate Advisory and Banking & Finance

Broad corporate law experience gained across multiple law firm internships. His work has included drafting and reviewing due diligence reports, compliance tables, and conditions precedent checklists for share purchase agreements and lending transactions. He has researched matters relating to minority shareholder rights, nominee director liability, debenture issuance, and Competition Act applicability. On the regulatory side, he has worked on FEMA compliance for importers and Authorised Dealer banks, as well as RBI guidelines on interest rates. He has also handled trademark drafting and opposition work during a corporate in-house stint.

Forensic & Fraud Investigation

With hands-on experience in corporate forensic investigations, having worked on matters referred to and connected with the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). His work involved preliminary investigation into the accounts, statutory filings, and financial documents of a plethora of companies, identifying irregularities and gathering evidence to support charge-framing under the Companies Act, 2013 and the Indian Penal Code. He has studied bulk transactions and stock market trades to detect manipulation in IPOs and Rights Issues, and has assisted in investigating and identifying violations of the Companies Act, 2013 to draft the SFIO’s report. He has also contributed to recording witness statements, preparing deposition questions, and improvising lines of questioning during investigations
